RingDesigner.com Privacy Policies regarding our engagement rings and jewelry
In our daily business practices and procedures, we value your privacy !!

Release of Information that you provide us
Purchasing fine jewelry, especially an items like engagement rings, is a very personal transaction.  It is not information to be shared with others.  RingDesigner.com does not, and will not, provide any third party, company or organization with information regarding a Customer's purchase or Customer's personal information provided to us.  It is that simple.

There are no circumstances under which we will provide or
sell personal information regarding our Customers to third parties.

The Competition
RingDesigner.com invites you to compare our Privacy Policies to those of other Internet jewelry web businesses selling engagement rings and certified diamonds!  Many of them require in their business plans a significant revenue stream provided by the sale of your personal information to third party marketers.  So when you compare our prices and quality to other Internet sources selling engagement rings and certified diamonds, also check their Privacy Policies as to what happens to the information regarding your purchase and your personal information!

You may be surprised by what you find.

Prying eyes Opting for privacy online

 from Consumer Reports  November 1999

Catalog companies have long kept detailed records of what you buy and how much you spend, and they’re quick to sell and swap their mailing lists.

But web merchants can—and routinely do— take prying to a new level. They track your movements on the web and how long you spend on each page, in addition to whatever other personal information they can get you to give them. According to a study commissioned by the Federal Trade Commission, more than 90 percent of online merchants gather some kind of data about their visitors.

All the catalog "e-tailers” we visited disclose their privacy practices. Some sites indicate that they collect only domain names of the Internet service provider—America Online or MindSpring, for example—and
not full e-mail addresses. They

use the information in aggregate, they say, to detect online traffic patterns

Many sites, however, reveal that they share e-mail and snail-mail addresses with other merchants unless a consumer tells them not to —either by sending in an e-mail message or a letter.

The better commercial sites offer “opt out” check-off boxes on their order blanks that allow customers to indicate whether or not they want solicitations from that company or from third parties.

By contrast, all of the catalogs we looked at announce on their order blanks that they intend to sell customers’ names and addresses to “other fine companies” unless you mail a letter telling them not to.

In our daily business practices and procedures, we value your privacy !!

Shopping Cart
We use a shopping cart system from PDG Software (www.pdgsoft.com).  For your privacy, NO information regarding you or the items you are considering, is collected by our shopping cart process.  Ringdesigner.com, does not know what items are in your shopping cart until you personally choose to "check out" to purchase.

Data Storage
After purchasing, personal Customer information (such as your name, address, postal, telephone, e-mail, product purchases) is stored on a secure RingDesigner.com database. Only approved Ringdesigner.com employees who have signed binding confidentiality agreements have access to that data.
Information about you as our Customer

We realize that jewelry can be an investment, but more so, an emotional purchase.  We like to say we create Heirloom Quality Jewelry, at Internet pricing.  We hope the item we create for you, is one that is cherished and you feel its quality and beauty is such, that it is worthy of being handed down.

So we feel we are creating for you a jewelry item that is emotional and very personal.

Since we feel this way, we have very strict procedures regarding the names, addresses and even fame of our Customers.  Please take a look at our Testimonials.  Our Customers say it better than we ever could.  But we ONLY publish a testimonial, if the customer has given us written permission to do so.  Nothing a customer says to us in the order process or in correspondence is ever published.  We would find such a practice a breach of our Jeweler/Customer relationship.

We are conscious of privacy in every customer contact made.   For example, if a potential Customer tells us, they were recommended by a previous Customer of ours, (and they tell us who that was), we like to send a "thank you" e-mail to the referring party.   BUT, we will not e-mail our "thank you for referring" note, without asking permission from the new potential Customer first.

Keeping information a "Surprise" from your potential partner

Many of our Customers do not wish their future fiancée or partner to know what we are crafting for them.  We intentionally ask in the ordering process, whether this jewelry item is a "surprise".   If it is, we work diligently to  maintain the surprise factor.

For example, for a diamond engagement ring purchase, we only have the male employees make any required phone calls  to the contact number you give us.  If your future fiancée happens to pick up the phone, you do not need 20 questions as to "who was that"?  We use a caller ID that has a residential look to it.   When we call and you (the Customer) pick up the phone, we quickly say "This is RingDesigner.com calling, if you need to say ' I believe you have a wrong number", go ahead, but later check your e-mail.   Our FedEx packages for delivery are shipped in an oversize FedEx box.  In the addressing, there is no reference of the word "ring".  there is also not reference to our company name  (we use a return address of either an employee name or RDcom).  We will only correspond to the exact e-mail address you tell us to.

We even can provide tips on figuring out a ring size.  We call this document Ring Sizing Espionage from RingDesigner.com.

Secure Server Technology SSL

RingDesigner.com applied for and was granted a VeriSign Secure Server Certificate.  VeriSign provides an encrypting software technology that allows the Internet browser of a purchasing Customer to link with our web site in an encrypted secure manner.  The VeriSign encryption technology helps to safeguard the credit card type transactions that occur on our web site.  To find out more information regarding this technology and process, please visit VeriSign's web site (linked here).
No Computer Tracking of Identifiable Information
Our Ringdesigner.com web site does not track, collect or distribute personal information about its visitors. Our web server does recognize the home server address (Internet Service Providers or ISPs) of visitors, but we do not track individual e-mail addresses from those ISPs or servers. For example, we can tell a "surfer" was visiting from America-On-Line, but we do not know their names, e-mail address or other information about our visitors that would allow us to identify any one particular visitor or visit to our RingDesigner.com web site. Our RingDesigner.com web site does track "informational general statistics" regarding visits to our web site such as daily number of visitors, what periods of the day is traffic heavy or light, the daily "viewing" counts of particular individual product pages, what countries are represented by the ISPs and many other marketing related statistics.
Web Site Visitor Provided Information
If a "surfer" submits their personal information to us while visiting our web site, because they want further information from RingDesigner.com, then we do maintain and follow-up with that individual as requested by the individual. That information is maintained on a secure database as well.
Marketing to our Customers

We are a marketing company.  We, upon occasion, will send advertisements to our Customers regarding our RingDesigner.com products or services.  But, when you place your order, our order form contains a check box if you do not want future advertising from us.

The following is the exact text copied from our order form that Customers can check to opt in or opt out.

The check boxes are activated on our order form only (not here).  the order form is the first occasion where Customers provide us information of a private nature that we need to capture to do business.

Internet Fraud
As a protection against Internet fraud, as we process your order, prior to shipping, we call the credit card issuing Bank/Financial Institution to verify the credit card number is valid to the billing address and name provided.   We do this for your protection and ours that no one is fraudulently using your credit card number  for a RingDesigner.com purchase
