Do you charge sales tax?

Our e-business is based in Oregon where there is NO state sales tax

This cost can be a significant addition to your total.  Do not forget to factor this cost  into your purchase comparison of RingDesigner.com versus your other sources.

How will my purchase be shipped?

We ship our engagement rings only using overnight Federal Express (FedEx).   Shipping is free of charge to you.  We cannot accept CODs or shipping to a Post Office Box.

Your ring will be delivered in an extremely oversized (for just a ring), non descript, FedEx box so not bring attention to the small extremely valuable item inside.    We use Greg Gates/1RDcom, Inc. as the return address for security reasons (with no company name or any indication that valuable jewelry is inside).  The contents will not be known (as long as the “to be surprised” person does not open it).   We can’t control that part.

Your ring will be in a black leatherette lighted ring box with no company name on it.   Your ring will be 100% ready to present and wear.  You have to do nothing other than open the box.

We can arrange to send your purchase via United States Postal Service Registered Mail for an additional charge, if you require.

No Charge

What documentation is included with my ring?

A RingDesigner.com Product Certificate of Authenticity can be issued for your engagement rings in  FedEx shipments.  Just ask us for one after ordering.  You need to retain this document with your important papers.  We do retain an electronic copy as well.

100% of the diamonds on our over 9,000 item database are "Certified" diamonds graded by a third party organization such as GIA, AGS, EGL, HRD or IGL.  Your ORIGINAL Diamond Certificate will be in the package with your ring when you purchase from RingDesigner.com.  We do retain an electronic copy of your Certificate for our records.  If your mounting (the ring) has smaller additional diamonds (like side baguettes, 2.0mmFlushSet (0.03CT each) etc, then 99.9 out of a 100 times, whether you purchase from us or any other quality jewelry source,  these smaller diamonds are not Certified.  Very few diamonds less than 0.20 to 0.25CTs are Certified.

We recommend, if you purchase from any other source, that you do not accept a "copy" of a diamond certificate.  Copies can be altered unfortunately.  Also, do not accept a source sending your certificate at a later date under separate cover.  Either a copy or a separate mailing of your certificate should send up a red flare of caution for that particular purchase option.  Your certificate is a universal document accepted by licensed gemologists guaranteeing the specifications of your diamond.

A certified diamond is definitely more valuable in the long run than an uncertified one.  If you purchase an uncertified diamond, do not expect another jewelry source (other than your original point of purchase), to value your diamond equal to your original purchase price.  Bottom line, if you are going to spend a significant amount of money on a center diamond, you should insist on a certified diamond for the protection of your investment.

To properly insure your ring, a copy of the Product Certificate of Authenticity and/or the 3rd party diamond grading Certificate may be required by your insurance company.  We highly recommend you store your Product Certificate of Authenticity and/or the 3rd party diamond grading Certificate in a safe and secure place as you would any other important personal paperwork.

What is better a Diamond's Certificate or  an "independent" Appraisal???
We want the customer to know EXACTLY what they are getting for their purchase.   Potential customers ask, which is more accurate, a diamond that has been issued a certificate or an independent third party gemologist appraisal?

From our years of working with GIA, EGL, IGI etc, certificates, without hesitation, an appraisal from an accredited independent gemologist appraiser, is 100% accurate, while some certificates over the years, have not been 100% accurate.  We always recommend to our customers to have an appraisal performed by an accredited independent gemologist appraiser.  Independent meaning an appraiser who does not sell diamonds who may have a vested interest.

For example, we use an independent gemologist appraiser Pacific Gemological Laboratories (PGL) located in downtown Portland, Oregon.  PGL as you can research, is a nationally known and highly recognized gemologist appraisal source.   It is fortunate coincidence for RingDesigner.com, that we are located just 11 miles from PGL.   We have no association with PGL other than they will perform appraisals for us.   PGL is Professional, Independent and Fair, but most importantly 100% Accurate!   They occasionally tell us things that we don't want to hear, but that's the way it should be,  i.e. Factual and 100% accurate for our RingDesigner.com Customer's Diamonds!
(Click Here) PGL Web Site  ASA AGS AGA GIA certified member

Not All appraisers are "Accredited"!   (buyer beware)

We have been told the ASA accreditation (American Society of Appraisers ) is the toughest to get and hardest to maintain for a gemologist appraiser.  So if your appraiser has that accreditation behind their name, they are most likely very good.  To be granted ASA accreditation there is a listing as to how each Candidate (to get accredited) must fulfill of requirements to qualify for professional status in their society. It is on their website and worth reading. http://www.appraisers.org/join/accreditation.htm

They have a web site where you can search for an ASA appraiser in your area.    http://www.appraisers.org/

Bottom-line on Appraisals--If your appraisal source has ASA accreditation behind their name, your appraisal will be accurate and complete.  The appraiser who has taken the time, effort and money to EARN & RETAIN their ASA accreditation will not risk losing that ASA accreditation by issuing an inaccurate appraisal.  They may tell you what you do not want to hear, but it will be an accurate appraisal.

How does my ring look as it is delivered?

When your ring is 100% crafted, it will be shipped by FedEx priority, overnight delivery.  It is packed in a greatly oversized FedEx box versus the size of the contents.  We do that to maintain any surprise factor a customer may have.  Very hard to visualize an engagement ring in such a big FedEx box.

We also use as the return address RDcom as the company name with an employee's name, so as not to arouse suspicion.  RingDesigner.com, Inc would most likely give a way the surprise.   Most customers trying to maintain a surprise have worked out the delivery option to maintain their surprise.

BUT, just in case, we purposely pack, address and ship your item the way we do,  just to make sure if the unintended wrong person (that the customer wants to sign for delivery) ACTUALLY is present to sign for the FedEx package.  By doing what we do, there is less chance of guessing what is inside.

An adult will be required to sign for the package

You just open the insured FedEx package and inside will be a black leatherette lighted ring box with your ring(s)/band(s).  This is the perfect ring box for your proposal in a dark area, your anniversary gift at a restaurant or holding your bands at your wedding ceremony.

Your item comes 100% beautifully crafted by our Master Jewelers ready to present and wear.  No running around to have a separately purchased center diamond set on another separately purchased ring.

Note: Our ring boxes DO NOT have the RingDesigner.com logo (as depicted in the image to the right) or any other markings.  Just black leatherette.  The logo shown on this image to the right for advertising graphic purposes only.

I am having trouble with the shopping cart?

If you would like to add items to your shopping cart to:
[1] calculate your total price,
[2] be there when you visit us again
[3] compare one item or one diamond to another,
[4] consider different combinations
[5] to store your items for a few days before ordering,
[6] and/or any other reason,
then here is how to use our secure encrypted shopping cart:

When adding to your shopping cart, it is a two step process
for each item you want to put into your personal private shopping cart.

[1] Next to each item you want to add to your shopping cart will be a button like this:

[2] Click on that button, and your item will be taken to a “temporary” holding area.  You can make sure that the item you want is the one you are about to take to your shopping cart.  Once you are satisfied it is the item you wish, there is a second add to cart button to click on.

[3] After the second add to cart click, you now are at your personal private encrypted shopping cart.  The shopping cart information is actually on your PC and not in our possession.  We do that to maintain your complete privacy.
(Click Here) Privacy Policy for RingDesigner.com Customer Information

[4] To add additional items to your cart, you can use your “Back” button on your browser OR click on the Continue Shopping Button (and repeat the above process for each additional item).

[5] When finished adding all your items you will see each of them as well as your total price.    Your shopping cart will be there to review, whenever you return to our site.    There is a "View my Shopping Cart" button on our home page www.ringdesigner.com.  Just click on that button to view your personal shopping cart upon your return.

[6] When you decide to order:
  • Return to your shopping cart. There is a “Secure Check Out” button on your shopping cart page.
  • Proceed through the secure process and “check out”.  Remember all information is securely encrypted so it is safe to order on-line.
  • You will be taken to a “Thank You” page.  An automatic confirmation e-mail is being generated at that point to be sent to the e-mail address you used in ordering.
  • Your confirmation e-mail will have the basic information regarding your order.   (Note, there will also be an “Order Number” assigned at that point beginning with "444").  It greatly assists us in servicing your order, from that point on, if you begin to use your Order Number in your “Subject” line for all e-mail.
  • At the bottom of the “Thank You” page, there is a “PRIORITY” button to e-mail us.  E-mail from there is handled before everything else.
  • If there is anything you want to communicate or remind us of, that is a great place in the process to do so.
  • We will e-mail a reply to your priority e-mail, so that you have written documentation for your records for this important purchase.
If you are having problems with your order, please do not hesitate to contact us personally at priority_customer_service@ringdesigner.com.  We will contact you by e-mail as soon as possible to assist.  Please include your phone number if you would prefer us to call you back.   Due to time differences, the best method of contact is e-mail.

How good is your guarantee?

We offer a 30-day, no questions asked, money-back guarantee.   Products must be returned in their original condition and in their original packaging to be eligible for the refund.  You will then receive a full 100% refund.

Note: Any type of modification or alteration made to your RingDesigner.com purchase not performed by RingDesigner.com voids all warranties on workmanship and materials.  We cannot accept returns for jewelry that has been worn, resized or damaged;  it must be in its original, new condition

Due to the very distinctive nature of custom design, we cannot accept any returns of our custom work.  However, our number one goal is your complete satisfaction!

We may be able to help you, if you have an unforeseen situation (such as a breakup of you and your fiancée), if your item has been worn, or the 30 day time period has lapsed, by selling your item via consignment.

Information your Bank will require to make a wire transfer
For a "
Wire Transfer" of funds to our corporate account, so that we may process your order, you will need to give your bank the following information regarding our account.

Important Notice to would be thieves!
We only keep $100 in this account to combat fraud. Potentially a dishonest person could use the Routing Number and Account Number to print counterfeit checks to cash. That is why we ONLY keep $100 in this special account. We also have purposely not had ANY checks ever printed with this Routing Number and Account Number. If a person would ever try to cash what might be a counterfeit check from this account, when a bank teller or merchant calls to verify funds, the funds just will not be there. Worst yet for the potential thief, the Key Bank personnel at our bank know there are no checks for this account.
Key Bank then alerts the verifying caller that the person in front of them, may be a potential thief. This procedure has already caused 2 people in California to be arrested as they attempted to pass fraudulent checks from this account:

Ordering process for Wire Transfer and Pay Pal

If you are going to order, especially if your purchase includes a center diamond, then you should add your items (your center diamond-engagement ring or Bridal Set-Anniversary rings-Bands etc) to your secure shopping cart and proceed through the secure check out process. Once you get to the credit card page, use VISA, with the number 4111111111111111 (that is a “4” with fifteen “1’s”), and use an expiration date of 12/04. Of course there is no VISA number like that. It is a shopping cart testing number for us, but suites this process perfectly.

This order process via the shopping cart will do several things for both you and us. We will know you are interested in ordering and know exactly what items you wish to purchase. It will give us all your customer and FedEx delivery information we will need. We can deliver to any address you wish. Some customers have us deliver to their work address so they can ensure a surprise. By inputting your information and checking out via our shopping cart, it also alerts us immediately that you will be paying by a method other than credit card. A automatic confirmation letter will be generated back to you for your records.

Next, you will be taken to a “Thank You” page where there is an e-mail button. All e-mail generated from there is handled before anything else. Alert us you just ordered and let us know how you will pay for the order. If a center diamond is involved, once we know it is available, we will make every effort to have it held for 24 hours so you can secure it by wiring the money (when we tell you to do so). Unfortunately, great diamonds at very good prices go fast. If you thought it was a great quality purchase for the money, so will someone else in this world who uses the same Tel Aviv sources as we do.

We will then contact our sources in Tel Aviv to secure the diamond. There is a time difference, therefore we may not hear until their morning, our middle of the night.

DO NOT WIRE UNTIL WE INSTRUCT YOU TO DO SO! We will instruct you to wire ONLY after we know 100% we have secured the diamond for you.

What if I want my ring sent to another address other than my credit card billing address?

Due to the possibility of potential fraud situations (and we want to protect credit card holders), RingDesigner.com must take some measured precautions.  It is possible for RingDesigner.com to have an item delivered to a different address other than your credit card billing address. E-mail us or call us, we can work with you.  If by credit card, we will have to work with you and your bank to truly make sure you are the cardholder of record.  We could accept a certified check, a wire transfer or working through our bank, we can debit your savings or checking account to transfer the funds to us.

Once we are in receipt of the purchase price through a method other than credit card, we can fulfill your order to any address you wish.

Also as a protection against Internet fraud, as we process your order, we will be calling your credit card issuing Bank/Financial Institution to verify the credit card number is valid to the billing address
and name provided.  We do this for your protection and ours that no one is fraudulently using your credit card number for a RingDesigner.com purchase.

When is my credit card charged for an order?

Your credit card will be "Authorized" only for your purchase as your proceed through the encrypted secure shopping cart purchase process . If you are purchasing an Engagement Ring or Bridal Set with a center diamond, your credit card will be "Captured" (debited) as we secure your center diamond from our diamond cutters (24-48 hours). For items without a center diamond, (standard inventory items, such as wedding bands, anniversary rings, men's rings etc), your credit card will be debited within 12-24 hours.

Remember also, our Guarantee................Within 30 days from your purchase, no matter the reason, we will refund your purchase price 100%.  No questions asked.

How secure is my credit card purchase?

All transactions completed through RingDesigner.com go through Secure Socket Layers (SSL).  SSL is the industry standard method for computers to securely communicate using encryption technology, without risk of data interception, manipulation or recipient impersonation.  This process encrypts your PC web browser directly to the host server at GTE Web Hosting where our secure (fire walled) e-commerce site is hosted.

RingDesigner.com contracts its SSL  technology from VeriSign®  the market leader  in encryption software.

Also as a protection against Internet fraud, as we process your order, we will be calling your credit card issuing Bank/Financial Institution to verify the credit card number is valid to the billing address and name provided.  We do this for your protection and ours that no one is fraudulently using your credit card number for a RingDesigner.com purchase.

How do I order the correct ring size?

Most of our Customers know the correct ring size to order.  But, if the ring is to be a surprise, you would have the same problem buying from us or a bricks and mortar store.  That is, if after you present the ring it happens to be the incorrect size, it will have to be "resized".  This is a physical process any quality jeweler can perform.

It is better to error by ordering the ring too large than too small.  If you think about it, to make a ring smaller you only have to remove a portion and then join it back together.  To enlarge a ring requires severing the mounting, then inserting an additional section of precious metal to make the mounting diameter bigger.

Bottom line, it cost a jeweler more to add precious metal to a mounting than to remove it.

Most jewelers charge a flat fee of $50 to $100 to make a ring smaller.  On the other hand, they will charge a fee based on the number of ring size increments to enlarge a mounting.  Remember, they are adding precious metal to your ring.  This can range from $75 to $150+ per ring size for gold (with platinum much higher).   So you might want to error by ordering a larger size with Platinum.  The combination of a jeweler adding new platinum and their labor charge to make your mounting bigger, could be more, than your difference in price by ordering the larger size from us and having a jeweler remove it later.

Ring Sizing Espionage
We have prepared some information we like to call "Ring Sizing Espionage". It was prepared for customers who wanted to maintain the secrecy of a proposal, but did not know how to estimate a ring size. The information should help surprise or not. After reviewing our "Ring Sizing Espionage", let us know if it helps?

Why do you use FedEx exclusively?

We believe FedEx to be a fast and most reliable package shipment service for our business.   We use their tracking ability to monitor the delivery of your jewelry.   United States Postal Service Registered mail can be requested at an additional charge if you require.   But, remember, we do not charge for your FedEx delivery.

NO CHARGE

We do use USPS insured Express Mail for APO orders when appropriate.

Do you ship Internationally?

Yes we do!

International Shipping:   The majority of our International shipments ship via International FedEx.  We do use USPS International Express Mail when that is more efficient.  We are currently making changes to our shopping cart to process International orders due to the increased number of non-US sales.  So if your country is not listed, let us know.

There will be an additional charge for International FedEx/USPS Express Mail.  We will charge an International order the difference between the regular domestic FedEx/USPS Express Mail expense and the charge to deliver to your country.  Our overnight shipping is free when delivery is within the US or to an APO address, but an additional $90.00 to $165.00 USD will be required for your International order.     We will manually add this fee to your order after you "check out" via our secure encrypted shopping cart.

Taxes & Duty:  We can not keep up with every country’s local tax and duty requirements.  All local duties and taxes applicable are the customer’s responsibility.  Even with local duty and taxes, our International customers have stated their RingDesigner.com price is still considerably lower than a local purchase for item of our high quality.  That is a calculation and comparison that you will need to make.  If you have performed that calculation, and we are competitive after your review, we would be honored to fulfill your important purchase.

Payment for International Orders:   Our prices are in USD. Payment van be by wire transfer or credit card. We prefer wire transfer for International orders. We also contact EVERY credit card bank prior to an International shipment. We verify that the name, address and all other information for an order, is the same as the credit card bank has on record.. We also question any discrepancy between the credit card information submitted with the International order, versus the bank's records. Our Bank and our Insurance company require procedures to verify credit card versus customer shipment.

If you pay by wire transfer, we will ship anywhere at anytime!

International Order Questions:   If you have any questions regarding International orders please contact us at: international_customer_service@ringdesigner.comringdesigner.com

What information will I receive about my order?

You will receive a confirmation invoice by e-mail, usually  the next day after you place your order.  You will also receive an e-mail confirmation of FedEx shipment containing  your  tracking number when we ship your item.

To track your package once it is sent,  you can use a FedEx Tracking Number.  Call 1-800-GO-FEDEX or visit their Web page at http://www.fedex.com/, select the appropriate country and use the their "Tracking" option.

When purchasing diamond Engagement Rings, Anniversary Rings or Wedding Bands from RingDesigner.com, you can receive a Product Certificate of Authenticity for your diamond and your mounting.  If you need one, just e-mail us after purchase and we will send one to you.  Your insurance company may want a document like this to properly set the value to insure your ring for damage, theft or loss.  Our RingDesigner.com Product Certificate of Authenticity basically lists all of the important information regarding your ring in one convenient document.

When should I expect my order to arrive?

We are physically  joining together your choice of a center diamond with your choice of one of our thousands of available mountings.  Your diamond is actually placed in a secure "setting" with "prongs" on your mounting.

This is a process that one of our RingDesigner.com certified diamond setters will perform.  We do not rush this craftsmanship process.   Each diamond is mated with its mounting in the same priority order equal to the chronology of the  orders received.   First in-first out!

For a simple but elegant tiffany setting, (a beautiful, single, center diamond mounted on a fine 14k Gold or Platinum tiffany setting), our goal is to have all orders received during this week, be delivered to you by the end of the next week.

Items that are custom or have additional diamonds added to the mounting or bridal set may take a few days more.  Sometimes 18K Gold and some unique Platinum mountings/bridal sets can take a bit longer also.

After you place your order, if there is any atypical delay due to the complication of the crafting of the item, we will let you know immediately.  That way if the time is too great for your needs, you can seek another fine quality source to fulfill what you require.

Bottom line, we want you to be satisfied with our service, and our integrity as well as our fine products.

Remember, you will be notified by e-mail that your order is being shipped so you may anticipate its delivery at the delivery address.

Do you sell your customer information?'

Absolutely not! All client information is held in strict confidence and will not be disseminated in any fashion whatsoever.                Please see our Privacy Policies.

What is your return/refund policy?

Our Guarantee................Within 30 days from your purchase, no matter the reason, we will refund your purchase price 100%.  No questions asked.

We think our 100% no hassle refund is just another reason for you to consider RingDesigner.com for your important purchase.

Also, when making your purchase decision, ask your other source(s) if they will give you a 100% refund.  Some establishments offer an "in-store" credit or partial credit and refund.

We want you to be pleased with your RingDesigner.com purchase. Since we use only higher quality diamonds and mountings (rings), most likely you will not be returning the item for quality reasons.  That is why we instituted our 100% no hassle refund policy.  If you are not satisfied with the purchase, for any reason, just follow the guidelines below.

Your refund will be credited to the credit card originally charged purchasing your ring.

Since we sell fine high quality jewelry, unfortunately, we need to take steps to combat fraud.  Therefore, you will need to follow exactly the steps outlined below to receive your refund.

We want you to be pleased with your RingDesigner.com purchase.  However, if within 30 days, you decide to return it for a 100% refund, then please:

This process "tracks" the shipment and documents the actual shipment by you and the receipt (by date & time) by RingDesigner.com.  We also recommend you request  notification of receipt service via your shipment service.  This process notifies you that we received it.  There are several methods of shipping that "track" the shipment.  FedEx, the US Postal Service, UPS and others offer this service.
  • Please insure the package for the full amount of the purchase price with the shipping service.
  • A RingDesigner.com employee will open your "sealed" package in the presence of an independent third party, certified gemologist.  In this manner, an independent party verifies the ring and diamond received by RingDesigner.com, in your sealed package, match the quality and specifications of your original purchase.  After immediate examination by the independent third party gemologist, if there are any issues of quality, damage or diamond specifications, versus your original purchase, we will contact you immediately.  The received  jewelry  and/or diamonds must be the same items as you originally received from us, plus in the same excellent condition as originally received.
  • We will call or send an e-mail notification that we have received your returned merchandise.  A full 100% refund will be issued within thirty days of confirmation of receipt, to the credit card originally accepted.
